Implemented by the Association of Journalists (GC) and financed by the European Union “Media for Democracy / Democracy for Media Project” (M4D), in collaboration with the İzmir Association of Journalists (İGC) and Journalists' Union of Turkey (TGS) will be hosting “World Press Freedom Day Information as a Public Good” e-conference between 14:00-16:00 (timezone: TRT) on May 3, 2021.
Opening remarks of the event will be made by Chairperson of the Association of Journalists Nazmi Bilgin, Chairperson of the İzmir Association of Journalists Misket Dikmen, Chairperson of the Journalists’ Union of Turkey Gökhan Durmuş and President of the European Journalists’ Association of Paolo Magagnotti..
European Parliament Turkey Rapporteur Nacho Sánchez Amor will be guest of honour and keynote speaker of the event.
M4D Project Senior Policy Expert Kenan Şener will be presenting the project’s Media Monitoring Report for the first quarter of 2021 while İGC and TGS will discuss the activities they have carried out in this period.
Journalist Sedat Bozkurt will be moderating a roundtable discussion titled “Journalism and legal protection; is it possible?” with the participation of journalists Barış Terkoğlu, Müyesser Yıldız, and Co-Chairperson of the Media and Law Studies Association lawyer Veysel Ok.
